NAO Annual Report and Financial Statements – 2025

This morning, the Auditor General, Mr Charles Deguara, formally presented the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Carmelo Abela, with the National Audit Office’s (NAO) Annual Report and Financial Statements 2025. In essence, this extensive and informative Report provides a comprehensive overview of the Office’s main activities, achievements and financial performance over the year. It also highlights the key events, strategic initiatives and collaborative efforts undertaken. As stated by the Auditor General in his Foreword, it really has been another memorable year for the Office.

The Report further outlines the NAO’s extensive institutional and international engagement during 2025, reflecting its commitment to strengthening professional cooperation, knowledge exchange and audit excellence at both national and international levels. Two main international events hosted by the NAO in Malta stand out; namely, the highly prestigious EU Contact Committee Meeting, involving the participation of all Auditors General and Heads of national audit institutions across the EU, carried out in close collaboration with the European Court of Auditors, as well as the 23rd Assembly of the INTOSAI Working Group on Environmental Auditing.

This Annual Report also includes the audited Financial Statements of the NAO, providing an overview of its financial performance, position and cash flows for the year under review.
