General September 2026

An unforgettable evening of history and teambuilding for our staff

Press Release

Thanks to the collaboration of our colleagues at Heritage Malta, on the evening of 10 September 2026 our staff enjoyed a truly nice socio-educational evening during which we could enjoy together another invaluable treasure of our extremely rich historical heritage. Of which we are all so very proud. This time the National Audit Office Malta staff visited the recently renovated Grand Master’s Palace in Valletta, that was built between the 16th and 18th centuries as the Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of St John.  We even had a pleasant networking opportunity in the wonderful surroundings of the Palace Courtyard.

We convey our heartfelt thanks a to Liam Gauci, Senior Asset Development Manager at Heritage Malta, who gave us a most informative and interesting tour of the Palace, recently restored to its magnificent glory. His extensive knowledge of practically all aspects related to the Knight’s stay in Malta, that is so important to put things in context, as well as his impeccable communication skills were greatly appreciated by us all. His incredible passion for Maltese heritage is indeed contagious……

Most appropriately, the event’s group photo was taken in the truly impressive and unique Tapestries Hall, often called as the cherry on the cake within this Palace. These magnificent tapestries, that were part of the gioia of the Spanish Grand Master Ramon Perellos, who took office in February 1697. Since last June, these priceless tapestries are now back in the hall where they have remained displayed tor more than 300 years following a very recent conservation project in Belgium that took almost two years to complete.

This wonderful event came to an end with a pleasant networking event in the Palace Courtyard where we could spend some quality time with our colleagues in such a wonderful setting.
