Recently a very cordial and productive meeting with a high-level delegation from the Malta Institute of Accountants (MIA), composed of Mr Jonathan Dingli, President, and Ms Maria Cauchi Delia, CEO, was held at the National Audit Office (NAO).
The Auditor General, Mr Charles Deguara, was accompanied by Mr Noel Camilleri, DAG, and Mr Ian Rizzo, Manager, Finance and Administration.
At the beginning of the meeting, Mr Deguara paid tribute to recent MIA’s achievements, making reference to the various commendable projects and initiatives undertaken by the Institute on behalf of its members.
Mr Deguara also emphasised that the NAO presently employs 28 members of staff who have an accountancy tertiary level qualification, engaged mostly within the Financial and Compliance Audit Section, the biggest one within the Office.
During the meeting, the two sides focused mostly on possible areas of cooperation between the two entities, touching upon various matters of mutual interest. Indeed, it was agreed that NAO and MIA should follow-up with a technical meeting to possibly identify practical joint initiatives that are of mutual benefit to both entities particularly focusing on their common goal of enhancing the level of good governance.
