Inaugural training session at the National Audit Office Malta

Press Release

In line with our firm commitment to invariably extend our full collaboration in connection with training initiatives related to the area of local government in Malta, last Thursday we hosted at our National Audit Office the first three-hour training session, in a series of four, to the first group of Executive Secretaries and staff from the Department for Local Government.

This inaugural session was opened by the Permanent Secretary, Mr Emile Vassallo, followed by a short address by the Auditor General, Mr Charles Deguara, whose message highlighted the importance of good governance and accountability in the public sector, particularly within this important area that touches upon the lives of all our citizens, and on the role of audit in strengthening transparency, oversight, and public trust in the local and regional councils across Malta and Gozo.

These first four sessions are being delivered by Ms Tanya Mercieca, whose extensive practical insights, extensive experience and professional competence in the area of local government auditing within our Office are indeed invaluable during such events.  It was very encouraging to see such active participation and engagement throughout the session; as evidenced by the very positive feedback given by the participants themselves.

We convey a special thank you to all participants for their active contribution and enthusiasm and look forward to the remaining three sessions at our Office.
