Welcome reception, EU Contact Committee Meeting hosted by National Audit Office (Malta)

Yesterday evening, all Auditors General and their delegations attending the EU Contact Committee, being hosted for the first time ever by our National Audit Office, were welcomed at a reception held at the idyllic Verdala Castle. The event was graciously hosted courtesy of the President of Malta, H.E. Dr Myriam Spiteri Debono. The President conveyed her appreciation to our NAO for successfully organising this prestigious event in Malta

In his brief address, Auditor General Charles Deguara thanked H.E. President for her cooperation and hospitality, a gesture warmly appreciated by all participants representing EU Member States and candidate countries.

The Hon Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr Anglu Farrugia, to whom all Reports issued by the NAO are presented, commended the Office for its sterling work in strengthening good governance across the public sector, ultimately for the benefit of all citizens. Through its wide-ranging Reports, the NAO provides Parliament with assurance that public funds are used for their intended purposes, in accordance with applicable rules and regulations, and in a manner that delivers value for money in the public interest.

The President of the European Court of Auditors, Mr Tony Murphy, together with his delegation, were also present at this welcome event.
