The National Audit Office (NAO) of Malta today hosted a bilateral meeting with the Supreme Audit Office (SAO) of the Slovák Republic. The Slovak delegation was in Malta this week to attend the INTOSAI Working Group on Environmental Auditing (WGEA) meeting and took the opportunity to engage in this bilateral exchange aimed at strengthening institutional ties and fostering peer-to-peer learning.
The Slovak delegation was led by Mr Ľubomír Andrassy, President of the SAO of the Slovák Republic, who was accompanied by Ms Ľubica Gazdová. The Maltese delegation was headed by Mr Charles Deguara, Auditor General, and included Deputy Auditor General Mr Noel Camilleri and Dr Rebecca Vassallo, Liaison Officer for International Affairs.
Discussions focused on a number of strategic areas, including the SAO’s experience with a recent peer review conducted by other supreme audit institutions; its leadership role in the INTOSAI Capacity Building Committee Subcommittee on Peer Review; and its internal developments in quality assurance and methodology within the context of institutional restructuring. Our Office shared insights into its risk assessment framework for audit selection and broader institutional development efforts.
This bilateral meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of both institutions to international engagement, peer learning, and the continued strengthening of public audit practices.
