A delegation from the Corte dei Conti, led by President Guido Carlino, has visited Malta in connection with the ongoing joint audit between our National Audit Office and the Italian national audit institution on activities of mutual interest within the Interreg Programme between Malta and Italy.
On Tuesday, President Carlino and Auditor General Charles Deguara gave an extensive presentation to the Public Accounts Committee regarding the progress and lessons learnt so far in connection with this joint audit. This is in line with the spirit of accountability and transparency that our National Audit Office continuously promotes in its work.
On Wednesday, President Carlino together with his delegation had a very fruitful meeting with Auditor General Deguara and the NAO team essentially regarding the continued enhancement of the bilateral collaboration between our two national audit institutions. Such international cooperation is useful to both sides since it provides practical hands-on exposure to the audit work methodologies and practices within each Office.
Both sides conveyed their appreciation for the excellent work carried out so far by the respective teams, namely William Peplow, Maria Azzopardi, and Esmeralda Galea, from the NAO, and Giancarlo Antonio di Lecce and Laura Zannarini from the Corte dei Conti.
