Dr. George-Marius Hyzler, Maltese Member of the European Court of Auditors, presents the ECA’s Annual Audit Reports on the implementation of the EU Budget for 2023 to the Auditor General, Mr Charles Deguara

Today, 27 November 2024, Dr. George-Marius Hyzler, Member of the European Court of Auditors (ECA), paid an official visit to the National Audit Office (NAO) in Floriana, accompanied by his delegation, Mr. Romuald Kayibanda, Chef de Cabinet; Ms. Annette Farrugia, Attaché; Dr. Nikola Soukmandjiev, Cabinet Member; and Ms. Jana Jirouskova, Cabinet assistant. Upon arrival, they were warmly welcomed by Mr. Charles Deguara, Auditor General.

During this visit, Dr. Hyzler formally presented to the Auditor General the ECA’s Annual Audit Reports on the implementation of the EU Budget for 2023.  The reports outline, inter alia, the findings from the ECA’s financial and compliance audits of the EU budget.

Following this presentation, the participants engaged in a constructive discussion on matters of mutual interest, including plans for another joint ECA/NAO seminar to be held in Malta in the early part of 2025. Besides Mr Deguara, the NAO’s Assistant Auditors General, Ms. Tanya Mercieca and Mr. Keith Mercieca, together with Dr Rebecca Vassallo, NAO’s Liaison Officer for International Relations, were also present.
