Delegation from the State Audit Office of Vietnam embarks on a bilateral meeting with the National Audit Office of Malta

A delegation from the State Audit Office of Vietnam (SAV), headed by Mr Nguyen Tuan Anh, Deputy Auditor General, and accompanied by Mr Duong Hai Hung, Vietnam’s Ambassador to Italy and Malta, held a bilateral visit at the Malta National Audit Office (NAO) on 23 April 2024. The delegation was greeted at the National Audit Office by Mr Charles Deguara, Auditor General and Mr Noel Camilleri, Deputy Auditor General, as well as other NAO senior officials.

This occasion was the first bilateral meeting of its kind between these two national audit offices and marks a pivotal moment in the collaboration between the two institutions.

The visit aims to strengthen the existing bilateral cooperation between SAV and NAO and explore new avenues for future collaboration in the realm of public sector auditing. During the visit, discussions mainly revolved around investigative auditing.

In view of their shared objective to enhance good governance in the public administration, representatives from both SAV and NAO openly exchanged their experiences and knowledge in this audit area.

Looking ahead, the visit provided an opportunity to identify potential areas for future collaboration.

As SAV prepares to celebrate its 30th anniversary on July 11, 2024, NAO extends heartfelt congratulations on this milestone. Emphasizing the importance of bilateral and multilateral collaboration, NAO looks forward to continued engagement with SAV, including participation in international fora such as International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) events.

The bilateral visit underscores the commitment of SAV and NAO to foster closer ties and mutual learning in the field of public sector auditing, ultimately contributing to enhanced governance and accountability for the benefit of citizens.
