Between the 4th and 5th April, the Malta National Audit Office hosted the 13th Meeting of the EUROSAI IT Working Group which is presently Chaired by the Supreme Audit Office of Poland. In his Opening address, Charles Deguara, Auditor General, welcomed the 69 participants from 31 national audit institutions together with the European Court of Auditors and gave a brief overview of the work presently undertaken by the IT Audits Unit within the NAO. He also made reference to ISSAI 5300 which essentially provides the overarching framework for conducting IT audits, both stand alone as well as in collaboration with Performance as well as the Financial and Compliance Audit Units. On his part, Krzysztof Kwiatkowski, President of the Supreme Audit Office of Poland thanked the Maltese NAO for hosting this Meeting and said that his Office is satisfied with the work achieved by the IT Work Group during his Office’s Presidency which is coming to an end.

Janar Holm, Auditor General of the National Audit Office of Estonia who will be taking over the Chairmanship of this IT Working Group, was also present for this two-day meeting. He too conveyed his appreciation for the excellent organisation as well as hospitality shown by the Maltese National Audit Office.

The subjects discussed during this Meeting included, amongst others, a review of the IT Self-Assessment initiative as well as highlights of ISSAI 5800 on Cooperative Audits.
