Audit Manager

The Audit Manager reports to the Assistant Auditor General responsible for the  Financial & Compliance Audit Section. The Audit Manager is responsible for the compilation and implementation of the Annual Audit Plan of his/her team, preparation of Management Letters and subsequent write-ups for the Annual Audit Report, management of staff and team, as well as ensuring audit quality of tasks falling under his/her responsibility. The Audit Manager is expected to deliver in-house and on the job training. 

The Audit Manager would be required to express opinions on the truth and fairness of financial reporting statements. Opinions and recommendations for improvement would also be required on the adequacy of internal controls, including administrative and financial controls and systems of Government and other Public Sector structures and activities.  Attendance  and active participation at meetings of the Select Committee of the House of Representatives – Public Accounts Committee - would be expected, whenever requested.  Applicant must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in the Maltese and English languages. Computer literacy is a must. 

To qualify for this position you must be in possession of a University Degree or professional qualification in Accountancy and be in possession of the Practicing Certificate in Auditing. Five years proven experience in an audit supervisory or management role is thus required.

Principal Auditor

The Principal Auditor works under the direct supervision of the Audit Manager. This position involves directing the financial and compliance audits of various Ministries/Departments, Institutions and Agencies of Government, to report effectively thereon and to formulate recommendations. Incumbents will also be involved in the preparation of the Annual Audit Plan as well as the planning of individual audits. Audit assignments require the exercise of considerable independent judgment in interpreting and analyzing facts and figures.

The position also involves the supervision of other staff members within their audit team, as well as planning the work schedules for themselves and their subordinates. Following an audit, incumbents may also be required to make representations expressing opinions and recommendations on the adequacy and effectiveness of systems. 

To qualify for this position you must be holders of the Certificate to Practice Auditing and must have the ability to communicate verbally and in writing in the Maltese and English Languages. Computer literacy is a must.

Senior Auditor

The Senior Auditor works under the direct supervision of the Principal Auditor or Audit Manager, and is required to lead junior members of the audit team in carrying out financial and compliance audits of various ministries, departments, and other government entities. Incumbents are to assist in the preparation of the annual audit plan, as well as that of individual audits. Senior Auditors are also expected to assume responsibility for the drafting of audit reports.

To qualify for this position one must possess an accountancy qualification leading to the CPA Warrant and preferably have at least one-year experience in auditing.

Senior Auditors must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Maltese and English.

The Senior Auditor works under the direct supervision of the Principal Auditor or Audit Manager, and is required to lead junior members of the audit team in carrying out financial and compliance audits of various ministries, departments, and other government entities.
